Music under the stars at Hollywood Bowl returns


I’m so looking forward to beautiful summer evenings at the iconic Hollywood Bowl. The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and KCRW will continue their longtime partnership for the 2021 KCRW’s World Festival at the Hollywood Bowl. The four shows during this historic Hollywood Bowl season feature an eclectic line-up of artists.


July 18, hosted by KCRW Program Director of Music Anne Litt will feature one of the hottest names in jazz, saxophone master/ composer Kamasi Washington. One of the most innovative and dynamic jazz artists of his generation, Washington has become a leading force in jazz crossover performing with music luminaries from Herbie Hancock t0 Snoop Dogg and was Grammy Award nominated for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for his score on Michele Obama’s Becoming documentary on Netflex.


August 1 will be Reggae Night hosted by KCRW DJ Travis Holcombe with Ziggy Marley and Wailing Souls. The son of reggae icon Bob Marley and Rita Marley Ziggy Marley is an eight-time Grammy Award winner and a Daytime Emmy Award recipient. The program will also include a Jamaican reggae vocal group, The Wailing Souls.


September 18 hosted by KCRW’s co-host of Morning Becomes Eclectic Novena Carmel will showcase Brittany Howard, Jamila Woods and Georgia Anne Muldrow. Grammy Award-winning singer Brittany Howard will bring her modern soul to the stage while Jamila Woods and Georgaina Anne Muldrow show off their R&B credentials.


Closing out the series on September 25 James Blake with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra conducted by Thomas Wilkins will deliver a knockout performance hosted by Morning Becomes Eclectic co-host Anthony Valadez.
