Hot jazz at a cool venue

Spectacular music in a spectacular setting, makes a perfect Sunday afternoon. The third of the “Sunday Afternoon Concerts in the Dome” featured an adventurous eclectic blend of jazz and more with Leah Zeger, violin and vocals, Cory Pesaturo accordion, and Jorge Villanueva percussion. All I have to say is wow, what an extraordinary concert! Featuring every music style from jazz to opera and pop with a little Latin thrown in for spice, Jazz and More isn’t kidding when the say “More”. The versatility of these three musicians was on full display as they literally played a banquet of music for every taste.

Presented in the iconic vaulted dome of the 100 inch telescope atop Mount Wilson, the concerts are offered at 3:PM and 5:00 PM with an artist reception featuring delicious snacks, and a variety of beverages at 4:00 PM. Concert-goers are also treated to an exhibition featuring rare scientific artifacts, drawings, and illustrations from the Observatory’s collection.

Upcoming concerts will feature LA Chamber Brass Quintet on August 7, Jazz with Michael Valerio & friends September 4, and Music by Bach (Concerto for two Violins, arr. For violin & cello by Cicely Parnas) and US premiere of French composer Karol Beffa “Masques” for violin & cello.
